Muslim Civic Coalition Participates in MLFA Nonprofit Forum, Advancing Ethical and Impact-Driven Leadership

Chicago, IL – May 2, 2026 – The Muslim Civic Coalition was honored to participate in the MLFA Nonprofit Forum hosted by the Muslim Legal Fund of America, a convening that brought together nonprofit leaders, advocates, and community stakeholders committed to strengthening mission-driven work through practical learning and collaboration.

The forum featured breakout sessions designed to equip organizations with tools to navigate real-world operational and governance challenges. A key highlight was the opportunity to engage in role-playing exercises based on real-world scenarios, allowing participants to actively work through complex situations and reflect on decision-making in practice.

“One of the most valuable parts of the forum was the opportunity to role play real-world scenarios. It pushed us to think through how we would respond in complex situations and highlighted the importance of having clear systems and decision-making processes in place,” said Lena Ali, Operations Leader at the Muslim Civic Coalition.

A central theme throughout the sessions was the importance of strengthening internal systems to support clarity, coordination, and effective execution across nonprofit work. The forum created space for shared learning among organizations committed to improving their operational capacity and community impact.

In today’s environment, nonprofits, particularly those advocating for human rights and Palestinian rights, are increasingly targeted. In this heightened climate of risk, the Muslim Civic Coalition remains steadfast in its advocacy and is deeply grateful to MLFA for providing critical support that enables the organization to continue this vital work safely and effectively.

The Coalition extends sincere thanks to the MLFA team for bringing together organizations across the sector and creating a meaningful space for collaboration, learning, and applied practice.

As a continued resource for nonprofits, MLFA also offers Pro Bono Governance–Risk–Compliance (GRC) legal screenings through its Nonprofit Department. Through this service, attorneys work one-on-one with organizations to assess governance and compliance issues, provide tailored guidance, and deliver personalized training for boards and officers. Organizations interested in applying for support can do so here.

The Muslim Civic Coalition remains committed to strengthening operational excellence and building collaborative relationships that support long-term community impact.
