2026 Fall Internship Application Now Open!

The Muslim Civic Coalition offers a robust internship experience for young adults interested in civic engagement, advocacy and policy, research, and community leadership! Interns will gain hands-on experience in community organizing, legislative advocacy, strategic communication, coalition building, and so much more. We invite you to be a part of our team as we continue to build civic power and justice across the state of Illinois. 

Internship Benefits

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of programs such as our legislative agenda, voter outreach, Young Adults Civic Impact Fellowship, and more.

  • Gain hands-on professional development and skill building experiences through trainings, workshops, and mentorship

  • Access Muslim Civic Coalition events and invited partner events.

  • Build your network with stakeholders, partners, elected officials, and community leaders.

  • After successful completion of the internship, high-performing interns who demonstrate outstanding competency will be welcomed to join our paid fellowship cohort.

 

Internship Requirements

  • Current college student, recent graduate, or young adult (18–30 preferred) passionate about civic engagement, advocacy, policy, or community organizing.

  • Strong interest in social justice and empowering Muslim and allied communities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and in a team.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Muslim Civic Coalition.

  • Ability to attend some in-person events in the Chicago area.

  • Time Commitment: ~10–15 hours per week

  • Format: Hybrid (virtual + select in-person gatherings)
