Muslim Civic Coalition Engages Young Adults at University of Chicago and Rush University

Chicago, IL – April 9, 2026 – This past week, the Muslim Civic Coalition continued its mission of empowering the next generation by engaging with young adults in two meaningful events focused on civic responsibility, service, and leadership development.

On Friday, Coalition organizers were invited to the University of Chicago to table during Jummah prayers. They distributed voter education resources and connected with students interested in the Young Adults Civic Impact Fellowship. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing strong interest in civic engagement opportunities. Following the khutbah, Civic Justice Fellow Mohammad Aitya delivered a powerful five-minute address, emphasizing the critical role of civic participation and how young Muslims can actively shape their communities. He also highlighted the Coalition’s programs designed to equip and prepare emerging leaders.

The following day, the Coalition sponsored the American Muslims Medical Student Association Regional Conference at Rush University. Medical students from across the Midwest convened to explore the integration of professional excellence and spiritual growth. The Coalition contributed by providing civic and voter engagement resources while encouraging attendees to join the Young Adults Civic Impact Fellowship. The initiative underscored the deep connection between faith, service, and advocacy, further reinforcing the Coalition’s commitment to building a diverse and dynamic network of fellows from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

Through these impactful engagements, the Muslim Civic Coalition continues to inspire and equip young adults to lead with purpose and participate meaningfully in civic life.

If your organization, masjid, or student group would like to partner with the Muslim Civic Coalition for sponsorships, civic engagement and voter workshops, or tabling opportunities, please reach out to info@muslimciviccoalition.org.
