Coalition Mission and Scope  www.MuslimCivicCoalition.org

Muslim Civic Coalition is a partnership of hundreds of Changemakers and Organizations.

Our mission is to Educate, Collaborate, and Amplify on social and civic efforts with diverse races, faiths, and communities towards Civic Justice! Civic Justice means…

  • Laws are made for us - and with us  (through Advocacy and Legislation)

  • Public officials understand us - and more look like us  (through Briefings, Education, and relationships)

  • Our data and stories - drive action towards Equity  (through education, national facilitation, and policy)

At our core, the Coalition is an Education and Community Organizing entity - both within our community, and to build an inclusive and more just society across the US.

Zakat is a religious obligation for Muslims of sufficient means which requires a certain portion of their wealth given to classes of beneficiaries that are identified in general terms in the Quran.

Muslim Civic Coalition provides this Zakat information with statements from funders who have provided the Coalition with Zakat.

Zakat Chicago contributes to support the  Illinois Muslims Report Initiative of the  Muslim Civic Coalition - because the report benefits all segments of the Muslim community, and as such all segments should contribute towards its cost. The Zakat was given to support the report to highlight the data specific to the needs of  the community that finds it hard to meet their own living expenses.  As such we contributed zakat for a percentage of the Report expenses equal to the percentage of people who are zakat-eligible in the community. Zakat Chicago has funded and supported a percentage of  the Muslim Civic Coalition’s Education materials  that provide data and information for and about the community. The Coalition’s effort of educating the community of their rights, etc., is important and a percentage of the cost of educating the community was justified to be zakat-eligible. Policy makers and government officials use this information - the Illinois Muslims Report, Education Toolkits, and education resources - to serve the community.

Zakat Foundation of America has been a loyal partner and supporter of Muslim Civic Coalition. Muslim Civic Coalition’s mission is to educate and empower. Zakat Foundation of America has granted the Coalition a sponsorship of their Zakat eligible programs based in the United States of America. The efforts are pertinent to the overall well being of the Muslim community. When our neighbors, government officials and surrounding society learn more about the American Muslim community - our diversity, our needs, our assets - and they build a relationship with us, we become an integrated part of our states, nation and the world. We have supported the Coalition’s focal efforts through their Zakat eligible programs and projects. It is an honor and privilege to be a partner with the Coalition and a meaningful impact in today's world.
