Community Celebrates the Unveiling of Little Palestine Way and Wadea Al-Fayoumi Way in Bridgeview
Bridgeview, IL — July 11th, 2026 – Community members, elected officials, faith leaders, and local grassroots organizations gathered at the intersection of 87th Street and Harlem Avenue to celebrate the official unveiling of Little Palestine Way and Wadea Al-Fayoumi Way, two honorary street designations recognizing the rich history of the Palestinian American community in Bridgeview and honoring the memory of six-year-old Wadee Al-Fayoumi.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for one of the largest Palestinian American communities in the United States. For decades, generations of Palestinian families have helped shape what is widely known as Little Palestine through their businesses, mosques, Arabic schools, community organizations, and cultural institutions. The honorary designation recognizes those contributions and celebrates the resilience, identity, and enduring legacy of the community.
The unveiling also honored the life of Wadee Al-Fayoumi, whose tragic death deeply impacted communities across the country. The designation of Wadea Al-Fayoumi Way serves as a lasting tribute to his memory while affirming the community's commitment to dignity, justice, and remembrance.
