Sonny is a committed grassroots organizer, boasting a career that commenced in 2006. He made history in McLean County, Illinois, by orchestrating the largest mobilization of undocumented residents, uniting over 1000 immigrants, allies, and community leaders in support of immigrant rights.
Throughout his journey, Sonny has collaborated with various local, state, and federal community organizations, channeling his efforts into multifaceted issues. Notably, in 2018, he took the helm in organizing the inaugural electoral campaign for a novel statewide C4 entity, endorsing progressive candidates. This initiative resulted in victorious outcomes for their endorsed candidates in McLean County, a traditionally "red" area.
Drawing from extensive grassroots organizing experience, Sonny has cultivated a network of leaders spanning downstate Illinois. His vision is centered on empowering diverse communities across the state, fostering growth, and amplifying people power.
